Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is often (unfairly) considered a poor relation compared to well heeled neighbours in Tuscany and Le Marche. Wrongly considered a work-horse grape given its versatility and prevalence on the high street, it generally has medium acidity, subtle tannins and lower sweetness.
